Labour People - Party Officers and Candidates

Labour Vice Chair and Membership Secretary
Frances Bovill was born and bred in Grimsby and lived here all her life - apart from two years in Australia.

She joined the Labour Party because she could see so many inequalities in society, and believed that the Labour Party was the Party to create a fairer society. Only a Labour Government, backed up by Labour Councils, which will bring about the equal opportunities that lead to a fairer society.

She was a former member of Great Grimsby Borough Council, serving for 14 years, with a special interest in housing and the environment. She works within the Labour Party as Membership Secretary and as a member of the Party Executive.

Since coming off the council she has attended Adult Education courses on computing, maths, and making beautiful greetings cards.

She is a voluntary member of the Residents Panel on Newlincs, who operate the Council's waste management system. She has been a magistrate for 20 years and is a member of the Commission for Patient and Public Involvement in Health Forum

With a Labour Government and a strong Labour Council, she sees a great future for Grimsby and for North East Lincolnshire, with a Sure Start for young children , a Better Education, full employment, good homes and an excellent health service with care for the elderly.

Labour Party Treasurer
Sylvia Moss was born and raised in New Haven Terrace, Grimsby and has lived and worked in the North East Lincs area all her life. She is married with one son and a grandson, and with the support of family and friends, has contributed to the community in her working life. She has been Manager of Victim Support since 1989.

Brought up to be politically aware, she has always believed in fighting injustice in society; this led me to membership of the Labour Party. As Treasurer of the Constituency Party she attends meetings and supports colleagues wherever and whenever she can. She is a great believer in working with people for maximum efficiency and for her this means partnership working; something she has done all her working life, and for many years supporting victims of crime.

Freshney with its abundance of green areas is a great place to live, but She is aware of specific problems in the ward. As a founder member, and Chair for six years, of the Safer Communities Partnership, she has a wealth of experience and contacts to tackle the crime and anti-social behaviour that blights our society. A constant belief is that children should be given a fair start in life, and as our future they and their parents should be supported as much as possible. Older people too should be given every chance to lead full and active lives.
